A 41-year-old woman died in an Athens hospital Tuesday as a result of serious head injuries sustained during an attack by her partner in western city Patra just over a week ago.
The partner, a 49-year-old man, was arrested following the incident.
The victim, who ended up in intensive care at the KAT hospital in northern Athens, was initially taken to a hospital in Patra, where doctors decided a transfer to the hospital in Athens, a trauma hospital, was necessary as a result of the severity of her head injuries. They included a fractured occipital bone.
According to police reports, the victim was viciously attacked during the early hours of November 4 as she exited a hotel where she was staying. Her partner was reportedly waiting outside.
The victim’s family announced that her organs would be donated in honor and remembrance of their loved one, giving others the chance at life.
