Two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a 34-year-old man in Serres, northern Greece, during a New Year’s Day clash in the city center, were remanded in custody on Monday.

According to public broadcaster ERT, the suspects, a 27-year-old Greek man and a 29-year-old Albanian national, were transferred to prison following their testimony at the Serres courthouse earlier in the day.
During their statements, the accused claimed they were summoned to the scene by one of two individuals still at large. One of the suspects admitted to possessing a firearm and firing a warning shot but denied any direct involvement in the killing.
Authorities continue to search for the remaining individuals linked to the case.
