Coast guard successfully rescued 65 migrants south of the island of Gavdos on Thursday afternoon, in the latest in a series of migrant arrivals to Crete.

The group, consisting of 63 men and two women, was safely escorted by a coast guard rescue vessel and a patrol boat to the port of Hora Sfakion in Hania regional unit.
Favorable weather conditions contributed to the smooth completion of the rescue operation. After arriving in Chora Sfakion, the migrants were transferred to the Agia exhibition center, where the Municipality of Chania has prepared a dedicated facility for their temporary accommodation.
This marks the fifth migrant boat to reach Crete within the past week. On Tuesday alone, more than 200 people were rescued in multiple operations and transported to Hania.
