“We have, in a very deliberate manner, prepared a policy for reforming the consumer protection and market supervision system, and in the coming days, public consultation will begin – and then the vote in Parliament – on the new independent Authority, Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos said in an interview with SKAI radio station on Friday. He noted that this will have a governor with a five-year term, independent of political circles, and a team of 300 inspectors with powerful digital resources.
“We are providing the institutional framework, infrastructure and tools for the new Authority to be effective, an interim administrator will be appointed and the competitions to appoint the administrator and deputy administrator will begin,” he added, calling on the opposition to support this important reform.
He added that “we are making the reforms that the market needs a reality, based on the needs of society,” while pointing out that Greece has succeeded in having the second lowest inflation in the EU.
