President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine Tassoulas met at the Presidential Mansion with visiting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, in the context of the latter’s visit to Athens.

Tassoulas expressed Greece’s support for Ukraine’s struggle to manage and protect its national integrity over the last and nearly four years. “This stance of ours was determined by our commitment to the UN Charter, our commitment to international law, which in the case of the Russian invasion were brutally violated,” the Greek president said, citing also the case of Cyprus’ occupation. He also noted that Greece supports Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
Zelensky thanked Greece and the Greeks for their support over the last four years, and said that this winter will be hard for Ukraine. He thanked Greece for its support in the energy sector and said that during talks he will also raise the issue of Ukrainian hostages.
