Klarna: What Greek consumers plan to buy this Black Friday

A new survey by Klarna, conducted among 1,000 consumers aged 18-77, reveals a significantly heightened shopping appetite among Greek consumers for 2025’s Black Friday. According to the findings, 87.9% of respondents plan to make purchases, with fashion and technology emerging as the top product categories.

Specifically, 37.7% of consumers say they will buy clothing items, while 35.3% intend to invest in tech products. This trend aligns with 2024’s results, when fashion and technology also dominated purchase intentions-although technology then held the highest share at 38.2%.

A considerable proportion of respondents plan to take advantage of Black Friday discounts to buy Christmas gifts (22.7%), while 20.3% expect to purchase home goods. Meanwhile, 25.5% intend to shop but have not yet decided what to buy (the survey was conducted one week before Black Friday).

The shift toward e-commerce continues to strengthen during the Black Friday period. Nearly 6 in 10 consumers (58%) say they will search for and purchase products online-a preference consistent across all age groups. Only 16.8% plan to look for products in-store and complete their purchases there.

In terms of budget, 31.1% expect to spend between 101 and 250 euros, 26.3% between 51 and 100 euros, and just 19% plan to spend 251-500 euros. Notably, 41.2% say they will compare prices prior to Black Friday to ensure they benefit from genuine discounts, while 34.3% will buy only what they can afford. This indicates a high level of budget-consciousness among Greek consumers during the promotional period.
