The election of Kyriakos Pierrakakis to the presidency of the Eurogroup constitutes a national success, a recognition of the leap achieved by the Greek economy, and a reward for the efforts of the Greek people, as stated by the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Giorgos Kotsiras, speaking on Friday on the public broadcaster ERT.
Kotsiras noted that thanks to the reforms methodically implemented by Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government since 2019, and through the efforts of the Greek people, Greece – from being the “ black sheep,” a country “ in an existential dead end regarding its European prospects” – managed to make a major turnaround, something that “ all our European interlocutors now acknowledge,” and is now helping shape the direction of European policies for the future.
He also pointed out that at a time when other countries have budgets that are barely expansionary, “ our country, thanks to the effort it has made, is able to return money to Greek society – money that citizens see in their everyday lives. We will continue in this direction.”
