Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni visited India to mark the launch of direct flights between Athens and New Delhi and Mumbai by the Indian airline IndiGo.

Kefalogianni was accompanied by IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers. During her 24-hour visit to New Delhi she held a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Kefalogianni emphasised that strengthening Greece’s position in the Indian market is a strategic priority for Greek tourism. The two ministers highlighted the significance of IndiGo’s new direct flights and the imminent launch of direct services by AEGEAN Airlines. Kefalogianni and Shekhawat also agreed to sign a bilateral cooperation agreement by 2026, focusing on the tourism education, including provisions to promote mutual student exchange programmes between tourism educational institutions.
