Three new digital tools that will be put into operation this year are expected to lead to a further significant increase in revenues from tackling tax evasion in 2026, expanding fiscal space and the package of new tax cuts planned for next September.
Officials at the Ministry of Finance estimate that this year as well, the increase in revenues from combating tax evasion will remain at high levels, following the record collections of 2.2 billion euros achieved in 2025 and the 1.7 billion euros recorded in 2024.
The three new digital interventions being prepared for this year by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, in cooperation with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), are the following:
-The implementation of the electronic delivery note, which will enhance transparency in the movement of goods and address the problem of fictitious invoices and undeclared sales.
-The electronic customer registry, which is currently being implemented on a pilot basis but is expected to be expanded to more categories of professions in the services sector.
-The digital work card across all sectors of the market as well as in the private sector. The government’s goal, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis earlier this week during the presentation of the government’s economic policy plan, is for the digital work card to be extended to the entire private sector by the end of the year.
