Turk faces extradition on migrant-smuggling charges

A Turkish man has been arrested in northern Greece and faces extradition to Turkey where he is wanted to answer charges including migrant-smuggling, police said Friday.

The 41-year-old suspect was detained Thursday in a Thessaloniki flat together with two more Turkish nationals, a police statement said. He also faces charges in Greece for alleged forgery connected with identity papers found in the flat. The other two Turks face charges of illegally entering Greece.

Police said the suspect is also wanted in Turkey for “insulting” authorities.
