Greece’s soccer federation wrote to world soccer’s governing body Tuesday to state that it will not back FIFA head Gianni Infantino in his bid to be re-elected for a fourth term.
Infantino’s plan to sell a stake in future World Cup profits to private investors was dropped Saturday, days after the revelation provoked a global furor.
The Greek EPO federation’s decision to withdraw its support for Infantino follows similar moves by several others, including Wales, England and Sweden.
Europe’s UEFA soccer body has threatened FIFA with legal action over Infantino’s failed proposal to raise $4.2 billion from private investors and said any potential evidence should not be destroyed.
