As we prepare for the busy summer months ahead, I wanted to ensure I provided you with some key updates/reminders from the Brotherhood.
Ikarian Scholarships
If you haven’t yet submitted your online application, there is still time! The deadline to apply for the 2019 Pan-Icarian scholarship is July 1, 2019. Applications can be submitted quickly and easily through our website at:https://pan-icarian.com/scholarships/. I encourage all eligible students who are continuing their education at a university or trade school to apply.
Ikaria Magazine
Submissions for the next edition of Ikaria Magazine are due by July 5, 2019. This fourth and final edition will be received in August and I look forward to reading about the news, events, and celebrations that each of your Chapters have to share. Submissions for Chapter reports, photos, Ikarian Spotlight segments, and other items can be sent to our editor Mary Deschamps at: IkariaMag@tampabay.rr.com
Memberships
With the 2019 Supreme Convention quickly approaching, it’s time to pay your 2019 membership dues. Please submit your dues to your local chapter or through our website (https://pan-icarian.com/membership/) as soon as possible. A strong membership base is key for continuing the success of our great organization and we depend on you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please contact Supreme Treasurer Evangelos Fragos at:fragoseva@aol.com or by phone (910)233-2572.
In addition, the Supreme Lodge recently emailed and mailed the “Convention Delegate” and “Chapter Officer” forms to each of the Chapter Presidents. Please ensure that these forms are completed for your Chapter, and returned to our National Secretary Katerina Mavrophilipos, by August 1, 2019. It is important to return these forms as soon as possible, to ensure all necessary Chapter and Delegate information is available by the start of the convention.
Ikaria Summer Volunteer Project
For those of you traveling to Ikaria this summer, the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood, in conjunction with the Municipality of Ikaria, and the Faros Sylogo, has organized a volunteering project to help give back to the island we all love so much.
This year, we will be performing a beach-clean up event on July 22nd at 3:00pm at Agia Kiriaki beach. All members are encouraged to meet at the beach at 3:00pm, where instructions and supplies will be provided. While supplies for the clean-up will be provided, I encourage all to dress appropriately, bring plenty of water, and your bathing suit for a swim afterwards!
National Convention – Detroit Michigan
The Pan-Icarian Brotherhood’s National Convention is an event that we all anxiously look forward to each year. This year’s convention, which will be held in Detroit Michigan from August 30 to September 1st , promises to be a memorable one! Many exciting events and activities have been planned, and I encourage you all to make your travel and hotel room arrangements ASAP.
As a reminder, the Convention hotel is the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel. Visit the convention website (https://www.icarianconvention2019.com) for additional details on the upcoming convention and to reserve your hotel, purchase tickets to events, and other great features.
I also encourage you to support the hosting convention city by submitting a journal entry in the convention album. The album is the most important fundraising tool for the convention and is entered into our archives following each convention. Help support the convention and be part of our rich history! Album submission forms can be found on the convention website with a submittal deadline of July 28, 2019.
