Economou and Vroutsis to request the upgrading of investigations into all cases of sports violence

Citizen Protection Minister Yiannis Economou and Alternate Sports Minister Yiannis Vroutsis will visit the Supreme Court chief prosecutor Georgia Adeilini on Tuesday, in order to request on behalf of the government the upgrading of the investigations into all cases of sports violence and corruption.

It should be noted that Super League 1 matches will be held without the presence of spectators for the next two months, as government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis announced during a press briefing on Monday.

The ban will apply until February 12, 2024, while it will also be extended to the matches of the Super League 2 championship, for the second teams of football clubs in Superleague 1.

The government spokesperson announced the measures following the recent incidents of sports violence that resulted in the serious injury of a 31-year-old police officer.
