A religious procession was held on Monday morning on Santorini, offering prayers for the cessation of the wave of earthquakes that have struck the popular tourist island.

Carrying banners, Greek flags, the relics of Saint Haralambos – who is celebrated on February 10 by the Greek Orthodox Church – the icon of Panagia Prousiotissa, and the skull of Saint Prosdokimos, the faithful from the village of Emporeio in the southern part of the island paraded through the streets, seeking divine protection and peace for their land.
Santorini and several nearby islands have experienced more than 800 tremors of magnitude 3 or higher since February 1. A 5.0 magnitude quake was reported in the area on Sunday just after 9 p.m.
This seismic activity has triggered a significant exodus of both residents and tourists, particularly from Santorini, with many of its 16,000 inhabitants leaving the island.
